My university degree was initially in the field of child psychology; however a major event occurred in my life, which led me back to my childhood dream of becoming a teacher.
I have been working for the Petit Monde since 1995, first as a Wednesday Activities instructor, then as a teacher.  I love teaching English to young children and I am overjoyed and constantly amazed at how “my” little CPs and CE1s grow and learn so much in ten months!  I love being theatrical and even a tiny bit “silly” while teaching. I believe that true learning can only take place when the children are at ease and have fun when learning.  Obviously, I always manage to infuse my teaching with my interests, most notably reading, making books, talking about famous artists and cooking, to name a few activities.
As the pedagogical coordinator, I consider it a huge responsibility and an honor to work in conjunction with the finest teaching team to insure that your children receive the best of what a school should be:  the Petit Monde’s pedagogical style and our proximity to its families.

My hobbies include (but are not limited to): reading, writing, art and decoration, preparing healthy and not so healthy things to eat :) , listening to music, going to concerts and watching old films.

My degree is in Early Childhood Education, and I love the energy and excitement of discovering the world alongside young children. It is especially exciting to see my students develop not only their understanding of the world but also the ability to express their ideas in multiple languages. Some of my favorite activities (in and out of the classroom!) include reading and acting out stories, exploring nature, and creating art.

Je m’appelle Isabelle et je suis au Petit Monde depuis septembre 2001.

D’origine Belge, j’ai suivi une formation de 3 ans à l’Ecole Normale pour devenir institutrice maternelle. Ma vie personnelle m’a amené à venir vivre sur Lyon où j’ai eu la chance de rentrer comme enseignante au Petit Monde.
Enseignante pendant quelques années en toute petite, petite et moyenne section, je suis passée depuis septembre 2012 dans le « bureau » où j’exerce la fonction d’adjointe à la direction, je m’occupe principalement de la comptabilité de l’école, de la communication avec les parents, de l’organisation des évènements et la gestion du personnel d’entretien et de la cantine.

Je suis également en charge d’un groupe d’enfants le mercredi pour un projet cuisine et jeu de société, ce qui me permet de garder contact avec mon premier métier l’enseignement !

Mon nom est Isabelle Vercoutre. Il y a quelques années … j’ai étudié les langues, le management et le marketing avec enthousiasme puis j’ai travaillé à l’étranger (Suède, Angleterre, Chine, USA). Les langues et l’ouverture sur le monde ont une grande importance à mes yeux c’est pourquoi tout naturellement mes enfants ont été scolarisés au Petit Monde.  Lors de la scolarité de mon 2e enfant, je suis devenue membre du CA car le projet d’école m’avait séduit et je souhaitais contribuer à l’association. C’est en tant que bénévole, pendant un an, que j’ai commencé à m’investir, j’ai créé l’antenne Actilangues de St Bonnet de Mure, développé les ateliers du mercredi et des vacances sur Gerland et St Bonnet de Mure. En 2012, j’ai rejoint l’association en tant que salariée. Aujourd’hui, c’est avec un immense plaisir que je suis en charge de l’école Le Petit Monde et Actilangues. Dans cette mission, je suis accompagnée d’une équipe fantastique , passionnée et passionnante,  qui met tout en œuvre pour que vos enfants s’épanouissent chaque jour dans leur apprentissage.

I love to work with young children because they have so much curiosity, enthusiasm and an amazing ability to learn. It is an enriching challenge to be the first bridge for them between home and school.
A wonderful thing about teaching young children is that you can use all your creativity to teach them language and many other skills.
I always work around a theme and try to find different ways to explore the subject through arts, music, theater and all other games.
Even though I began working at the Petit Monde in January 1993, I am still here, passionately enjoying it!

I’m English, of Indian origin. I come from Yorkshire (I’m a Yorkshire lass). I have been working for the Petit Monde since 2001.

I really enjoy working with the little ones. When they start school it is always a little bit difficult, but when they get used to me and the school, everything just flows and we have so much fun with all the different activities, such as painting and singing.
At the end of each school year I say « Wow, they have grown so much ! »

In meinem Unterricht versuche ich eine ausgewogene Mischung zwischen dem deutschen Kindergarten und der französischen Vorschule zu bieten. Die Kinder haben zwischen den Lernphasen Zeit frei zu spielen oder sich eine Beschäftigung zu wählen. Das Lernen selber versuche ich für die Kinder spielerisch zu gestalten. Bei den Kleinen wird sehr viel gebastelt, gemalt und gestaltet und auch die Grossen schätzen die Abwechslung zwischen konzentriertem Arbeiten und freierem Gestalten.
